What
to Expect
Massage Therapy involves the assessment and treatment of both
general and soft tissue & joint dysfunction in order to promote well-being.
Prior to hands-on treatment, your therapist will go over your confidential
case history, assess your needs via muscle testing, range of motion
testing and questions relating to your daily activities
(i.e. work environment, exercise routines, etc.)
The therapist will then propose a treatment for which your consent
is required, which can be rescinded at any time. It is important to
remember to voice any questions or concerns before giving your
consent. The information you give your therapist, both verbally and
written, is kept in the strictest confidence. This information will
be kept safeguarded unless or until you sign a consent form to
release your records to another health care professional.
Massage Therapy involves fixed or movable pressure,
vibration, rocking, friction, kneading and compressing, using
primarily the hands but possibly other areas of the therapists'
body, such as the forearms or elbows. These techniques are used for
the benefit of the musculoskeletal, circulatory-lymphatic, nervous,
and other systems of the body.
